Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a £24m offer for Algeria international defender Faouzi Ghoulam, according to Le Buteur (via calciomercato).

The Premier League side, who currently top the English top-flight table following their latest 2-1 victory over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, have been linked with a move for the Napoli star ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who has 29 international caps for his country, has provided five assists in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.

Ghoulam, who began his senior career with French side Saint-Etienne, is wanted by Blues boss Antonio Conte as an alternative option to wing-back Marcos Alonso.

Currently the top assist player in the Italian top-flight this term, Ghoulam is a versatile defender that can star in either a back three or four system, which Conte has experimented with his Chelsea squad this campaign.

The Blues next face fellow title contenders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
