Chelsea will benefit from an extended break as the FA Cup fourth round takes place this weekend.

The Blues were knocked out of the competition at the hands of Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the previous round, with the Seagulls facing Newcastle United in round four.

Enzo Maresca’s side have been in poor form since the turn of the year, but they did return to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a 4-0 victory over 20th-placed Southampton in the league on Tuesday night.

Next up for the West London side is a visit to Denmark to face FC Copenhagen in the Europa Conference League, but in the meantime it has emerged that the Blues are plotting a move for a Bundesliga star this summer.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi and have made moves in order to do so.

The report claims that the London side considered a move for the 23-year-old during the recent January transfer window, and they remain interested in the player.

Adeyemi is a target for Chelsea

Adeyemi has scored 20 goals in 87 matches for Dortmund since joining the club from RB Salzburg in 2022.

That form appears to have attracted interest from several clubs including Chelsea, and the report claims that the striker may be available for around £37 million this summer with the Bundesliga outfit open to the idea of selling the player for the right price.

It is also claimed that the young forward has recently changed agents and is now open to the idea of a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal also interested in the player.

Liverpool too could enter the race for the Germany international, the report suggests, if talisman Mohamed Salah departs Anfield at the end of the season.

Adeyemi is contracted to Dortmund until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
