Chelsea have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Argentina ace Jonathan Calleri.

The defending Premier League champions, who defeated Norwich City 1-0 on Saturday, are thought to be ready to firm up their interest in the Boca Juniors striker by lodging an opening offer for their prized asset during the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who is also reportedly drawing interest from Serie A giants Inter Milan, scored a sensational 21 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions for the Primer Division outfit last season.

It is also understood that Argentinian side Boca Juniors have given Calleri; who is fast emerging as one of South America’s hottest prospects, their blessing to leave the club in the New Year, with Jose Mourinho’s Blues ready to pounce.
