Chelsea preparing £43m raid for Ligue 1 champion

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a £43m raid for France international star Blaise Matuidi this summer, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who welcome West Ham United to Stamford Bridge on Monday night in their 2016/17 league opener, have been linked with a move for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder.

The 29-year-old, who has 51 international caps for his country and helped France reach the Euro 2016 final earlier this summer, scored five goals and provided nine assists in 48 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions last season.

Matuidi, who is also said to be attracting interest from Serie A champions Juventus, is wanted by new Blues bos Antonio Conte ahead of the former Italy coach’s first campaign in charge of the London outfit.

PSG defeated Lyon 4-1 in their weekend triumph of the Trophee des Champions final, although Matuidi did not feature and is tipped to leave the Parc des Princes before the close of the summer transfer window.

    If this Matuidi story is true, then there is no DOUBT an IDIOT at chelsea making very studpid nd dumb decision. 29 year old to cost £43? and why do you need him when you have JUan quadrado back, lutfus cheek, chalobah, kante, hazard. oscar, willian, fabregas, etec? Matuidi is NOT an upgrade to anyon. besides, he will make it hard for chelseas academy graduate who are more promising than he is to gain game time. Very Stupid idea.

    Chelsea should spent on one defender and a striker (if costa is surely leaving). It is even better paying that for Maharez, a well known midfielder who was the best last season, and is 25, than Matuidi.

    why do we need matuidi when we already have kante and matic coupled with Mikel ? is this not a foolish idea? we are falling short of defenders and all we can think of is midfielder. this is a very crazy move, not a good one at all. please reshape our backline coz we conceded cheap goals during the pre-season games.

    I think our midfield is okay, we only need to get a hot striker and serious defenders as our defense players are aging and can’t give their best like they used to
