Chelsea are reportedly set to renew their interest in England international star Ross Barkley in January, according to the Daily Mail.

The defending Premier League champions, who suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat to West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday, have been linked once more with the Everton midfielder ahead of the New Year transfer window.

The 24-year-old, who has 22 international caps for The Three Lions, has failed to feature in all competitions for The Toffees so far this season due to a hamstring injury.

Barkley, who has been at Everton since he was just 11-years-old, scored six goals and provided nine assists in 39 appearances last term.

The central midfielder snubbed The Blues on deadline day back in August, because he reportedly preferred a switch to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the report suggests Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is still keen on bringing Barkley to Stamford Bridge next month, with the player out of contract at Goodison Park come June 2018.

He has scored 27 goals in 179 games overall for Everton since making his first-team debut back in August 2011.
