Chelsea are plotting a record-breaking offer for Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana, but the move could be hijacked by French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The Blues, who lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen at the end of the season, have been linked with a number of centre-backs this summer but they have so far only landed Kalidou Koulibaly at the back.

Thomas Tuchel’s side have missed out on the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Jules Kounde in recent weeks, but have recently turned their attention to Fofana.

Fofana is wanted by both Chelsea and PSG

According to TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook, the Blues are plotting an £85 million bid for the Frenchman, that would make him the most expensive defender in football history if accepted.

That record is currently held by Harry Maguire, who joined Manchester United from the Foxes for £80 back in 2019.

Crook claims that Tuchel’s former side PSG are monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation, and could still make a late move for the defender.

It is claimed that the player is almost certain to be leaving Leicester this summer, with the only uncertainty over his destination.
