Chelsea are looking to continue their summer spending spree by landing Wesley Fofana from Leicester City, and the Blues are prepared to offer the player huge wages to do so.

As per The Mail, Thomas Tuchel is keen on adding the defender to his squad as he searches desperately for at least one more central defender.

The German has already lost both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, and could still lose Levi Colwill and Malang Sarr.

Kalidou Koulibaly has already been recruited, but Chelsea would still be lacking in terms of centre-backs.

That has led the club to Fofana, and the player could reportedly be offered as much as £200,000-per-week if he does join the Blues.

Fofana joined Leicester from Saint Etienne in 2020

The report claims that the Frenchman is keen on the move, but an agreement is yet to be reached between the two clubs.

Leicester value their defender at £85 million and, while Chelsea’s initial offer of £60 million is promising, they are reluctant to pay more than £70 million for the 21-year-old.

The France youth international missed much of last season through injury but did pen a new five-year deal with the Foxes in March, meaning that Leicester are under very little pressure to sell.

Chelsea have already missed out on a number of central defensive targets during the current window, including Jules Kounde and Matthijs de Ligt, and they will therefore be desperate to land Fofana.
