Chelsea cruised to a well-deserved 3-0 victory over rivals West Ham United at The London Stadium on Saturday.

Striker Nicolas Jackson scored twice early on to put the visitors in control, before setting up Cole Palmer for the Blues’ third.

The result moves Chelsea – temporarily at least – up to second in the Premier League table, and Maresca will be largely pleased with his side’s start to the season.

After a busy summer transfer window, the Italian appears to have taken very little time to get his side playing as a cohesive unit.

The likes of Joao Felix and Jadon Sancho arrived at Stamford Bridge during the summer, while Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah were among those to depart.

Now, it appears that those in charge of the club have made a decision on the future of one of their defenders.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes via Sports Mole, the Blues have decided that centre-back Axel Disasi can be sold when the transfer window reopens in January.

Disasi could depart Chelsea in January

The Frenchman joined Chelsea from Ligue 1 side Monaco last summer and featured 44 times during his debut season under Mauricio Pochettino.

Disasi, 26, has fallen out of favour since the arrival of Enzo Maresca, though, and has featured just once in the Premier League this term.

His only Premier League appearances of the campaign so far came against Bournemouth and West Ham, both times being used as a makeshift right-back in the absence of both Reece James and Malo Gusto.

Disasi’s current contract with the Blues is set to run until the end of the 2028/29 campaign, but it appears increasingly likely that he will depart Stamford Bridge prior to then.

The five-time France international is currently behind the likes of Wesley Fofana and Levi Colwill in the pecking order of central defenders at Stamford Bridge.
