Chelsea flustered, plucked, clipped, and blew the Eagles away on Saturday, and they did so without many of their strongest players.

Thomas Tuchel’s side hammered Crystal Palace 3-0 at Stamford Bridge, courtesy of goals from Marcos Alonso, Christian Pulisic, and young defender Trevoh Chalobah.

They were missing the likes of Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante, and Romelu Lukaku, who is set to be involved in the Blues next match against Arsenal.

Stamford Bridge was absolutely booming in the first full capacity crowd since the pandemic gripped the world.

Excitement is permeating through West London and many football critics and rivals are touting Tuchel’s side for great things this season.

However, Chelsea are still looking to trim their extremely over sized squad and they could be set to sell left-back Emerson Palmieri to Lyon, according to The Guardian.

Emerson only made 15 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season.

The Italian star, who won the European Championship with Italy in the summer, is currently behind both Ben Chilwell and Alonso in the packing order.

While Tuchel has often turned to the former AS Roma left-back as the perfect solid reinforcement from the bench, the 27-year-old is now looking for regular first team football.

Lyon are currently in the market for a new left-back having seen a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa break down.

Emerson has proved he can be a safe pair of hands in the defence, after successfully replacing the injured Leonardo Spinazzola during the summer tournament.

It is understood the Blues would happily part with the Italian full-back if an offer of £15 million is offered.
