Chelsea completed their second transfer of the window on Monday, announcing the signing of Marc Guiu from Barcelona.

The Blues announced the capture of the Spaniard on a five-year-deal, which also includes the option for a further 12 months.

The young forward becomes the second new arrival at Stamford Bridge this summer, following Omari Kellyman to West London.

Now, though, it appears that Chelsea also remain interested in a Premier League striker.

According to Football Insider, the Blues remain interested in Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran, despite initial talks over a move having stalled.

It had initially been suggested that Chelsea had reach an ‘agreement in principle’ on personal terms with the 20-year-old, and were hoping to agree a £40 million fee with the Villans.

Duran remains a target for Chelsea despite a breakdown in talks

Chelsea have since been assessing other potential transfer targets, though, but the report claims that a move for Duran is still a possibility.

The Colombian striker joined Villa from MLS side Chicago Fire in January last year, but only played a bit-part role during his first full season in England.

In total he has played 49 times for the Midlands club, scoring eight times, but he only started three Premier League games last term.

The Colombia international – who is currently representing his nation at the Copa America in the USA – is contracted to Villa until the summer of 2028, but the club could be persuaded to allow him to leave this summer for the appropriate fee.

At present Duran is behind Ollie Watkins in the pecking order of strikers in Unai Emery’s squad, but he isn’t certain to secure himself a regular starting spot at Chelsea even if he does move to the capital.
