Chelsea are reportedly set to renew their interest in signing Spain international striker Fernando Llorente, according to the Evening Standard.

The Premier League champions, who finished seven points clear of runners-up Tottenham Hotspur in the 2016-17 top-flight standings, are expected to move onto alternative forward targets after Manchester United agreed a £75m fee with Everton to land hitman Romelu Lukaku – who was understood to be a top transfer target for Chelsea.

Llorente, 32, who has 24 international caps for his country, scored 15 goals and provided one assist in 35 appearances in all competitions for The Swans last season.

The 6ft 4in striker, who arrived at the Liberty Stadium on a two-year deal last August following his move from La Liga outfit Sevilla, was wanted by Blues boss Antonio Conte back in January on an initial loan deal.

However, after failing to land the Spaniard in the New Year, the report suggests Chelsea will now turn their attentions back to the Swansea star, despite the player breaking his arm whilst cycling on holiday earlier this summer.

Llorente has played for the likes of Athletic Bilbao, Juventus and Basconia previously, and was part of the Spanish squads who won the 2010 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2012.
