Chelsea scout Piet de Visser says the club should try to sign Nathan Ake back from AFC Bournemouth.

The Netherlands international has impressed for Eddie Howe’s side since his £20million switch from Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2017.

A regular in the Cherries’ backline, the 24-year-old won all of the club’s individual awards in his first season at the club and impressed again in 2018/19.

Now, speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League trip to Ajax, De Visser feels the central defender would fit perfectly into Frank Lampard’s young team.

Ake has 11 caps for the Netherlands.

“Ake should have played for Chelsea by now. He’s so good,” he told Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant.

“How often does he not score with his head? He has timing and insight. I hope they buy him back. That boy is perfect for them and he has played with Lampard.”

The ball-playing centre-back did play 17 matches in all competitions for Chelsea’s first-team, collecting both a League Cup and Europa League winners’ medal.

However, due to a lack of game time under Antonio Conte he opted to make a loan move to AFC Bournemouth permanent.
