Chelsea face Belgian side Genk in the opening round of UEFA Conference League group phase games on Thursday night.

The Blues have been in fine form so far this season, remaining unbeaten since their defeat against Manchester City on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

Enzo Maresca has therefore made a good first impression since becoming head coach at Stamford Bridge, and he will undoubtedly be eyeing the Conference League title at the end of the season.

Off the pitch, though, the club’s scouts are said to be pushing Maresca and those in charge of the club to sign a Bundesliga star.

According to GiveMeSport, the West London club could look to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface.

Chelsea scouts are said to have watched the 23-year-old in action and are now pushing those in charge of the club’s recruitment to make a move for him.

Boniface has been scouted by Chelsea

Boniface joined Leverkusen from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise last summer and scored 14 times to help Xabi Alonso’s side to the Bundesliga title last term.

The Nigerian has also started this season impressively, scoring five times and providing a single assist in eight games so far.

He is contracted to the German champions until the summer of 2028, but the report suggests that Chelsea could attempt to sign him next year.

Previously, the attacker has stated that he has no intention of moving to the Premier League, but the Blues appear undeterred by this and remain interested in the player.

At present, Maresca has the likes of Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu to choose from in attack, but the report suggests that he wants to bolster his attacking options next summer.
