Chelsea forward Diego Costa and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois look set to sign new and improved deals to remain at Stamford Bridge, according to the Telegraph.
They report that both men were contemplating a move away from West London, yet new manager Antonio Conte has clearly done enough to persuade them to stay at the club.
Forward Costa has been one of the players of the Premier League season thus far, with his ten goals in 12 games helping power Chelsea to the top of the division, and indeed himself to the top of the goal-scoring charts.
With Eden Hazard and Pedro also in excellent form upfront alongside the Spaniard, Costa looks to be relishing playing under Conte, and it has been shown in his brilliant displays for the Blues this season, which included him netting the winner in their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough last weekend.
Shot-stopper Courtois was far from his best last season during Jose Mourinho’s turbulent four months in charge, but he is part of a Chelsea backline which has kept six successive clean sheets in the Premier League, including shut-outs against Manchester United and Everton.
Both men have significantly improved under Conte after frustrating campaigns last time out, and Chelsea fans will be thrilled at the prospect of them remaining at Stamford Bridge after 2019, which is when their current deals are due to expire.
Costa and Courtois were integral to Chelsea’s title-winning campaign back in 2014/15, and will need to be again if the Blues are to regain the title this time around.
