Chelsea suffered another disappointing defeat on Saturday as they were beaten 3-1 by Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Blues had taken the lead at Stamford Bridge through Enzo Fernandez, but defender Trevoh Chalobah was then sent off in the second half.

Enzo Maresca’s side then capitulated, with Danny Welbeck equalising for the visitors before Maxim De Cuyper put the Seagulls in front.

Welbeck then netted his second and Brighton’s third to inflict a second consecutive Premier League defeat on the West London side.

Off the pitch, it has emerged that the Blues are keen to sign a Serie A star.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are interested in Como attacking midfielder Nico Paz, who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

The report claims that the Blues are hoping to beat the La Liga side to the signing of the 21-year-old, who has been impressing in Italy.

Paz joined Como from Real Madrid in 2024, and the Spanish giants have the opportunity to activate a buy-back clause that was included in the deal that took the player from Spain to Italy.

Real Madrid are said to be keen to re-sign the player next summer, although Chelsea are said to be ready to rival the Spanish side for the player’s signature.

It is claimed, however, that Como are hoping to agree a new contract with the midfielder that would remove the clause.

Since joining Como, Paz has scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 41 matches across all competitions.

He is contracted to the Italian side until the end of the 2027/28 season, but it appears that he could depart his current club next year with both Real Madrid and Chelsea eyeing a move for the player.
