Chelsea are reportedly set to make a move for Italy international striker Ciro Immobile, according to The Sun.

The defending Premier League champions, who visit AFC Bournemouth later this afternoon (17:30) in the English top-flight, have been linked with the Lazio forward ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

The 27-year-old, who has 28 international caps for the Azzurri, has scored an impressive 17 goals and provided four assists in just 14 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.

Immobile, who joined Lazio back in July 2016 following his move from La Liga side Sevilla, has netted 43 times in just 55 games overall for the Italian club.

With The Blues already nine points adrift of Premier League leaders Manchester City after their opening nine fixtures, the report suggests the club will make an offer for the in-form striker in January in a bid to help rebuild their relationship with manager Antonio Conte.

The Italian boss’s future at Stamford Bridge is said to be in doubt, with reports suggesting former manager Carlo Ancelotti is being lined up as his successor.

Lazio rejected a £62m offer for Immobile from an unnamed Chinese Super League side already, though they are likely to do business with Chelsea for around £53m in the New Year.
