Chelsea target Thiago Maia is reportedly set to snub their interest ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window, according to the Evening Standard.

The Premier League side, who currently lie one point behind joint-English top-flight leaders Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool after comfortably defeating Southampton 2-0 at St Mary’s Stadium on Sunday, have been linked with a move for the Brazilian defensive midfielder, although he is understood to be keen on a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain instead.

The 19-year-old, who starred for his country at the 2016 Olympic Games as the hosts won Gold, provided one assist in 15 league games for Santos last season.

Maia, who is still being monitored by Antonio Conte’s men ahead of the new year period, has publicly announced he fancies a move to defending Ligue 1 champions PSG.

He said, “A lot of players say they want to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona but I identify myself with PSG.”
