Chelsea came from behind to beat Lincoln City 2-1 and book their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round on Tuesday night.

The Blues were outclassed by their League One opponents in the first half at Sincil Bank, with Rob Street giving the hosts a surprise lead shortly before the break.

Enzo Maresca’s side responded quickly in the second half, though, with goals from Tyrique George and Facundo Buonanotte turning the game on its head and putting the Premier League side in front.

The West London outfit held on to secure their place in the fourth round of the competition, and next up for Maresca’s side is a home match against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

In the meantime, it has emerged that Chelsea are planning for a future without one of their most prolific players in recent seasons.

According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea are not considering striker Nicolas Jackson as part of their plans as they look ahead beyond the end of the current season.

Jackson, 24, joined German giants Bayern Munich on loan for the remainder of the season over the summer, with the Bundesliga side having an obligation to buy the player if certain criteria are met.

Bayern – who paid an initial fee of around £14 million to sign Jackson on loan for the season – will be obliged to sign the striker permanently for more than £56 million if he starts more than 40 matches for the club this season.

If he does not, the Bundesliga champions still have the option to sign the player for the pre-agreed fee.

It is claimed, though, that Jackson is expected to leave Stamford Bridge permanently next summer regardless of whether or not Bayern sign the player.

Jackson joined Chelsea from Spanish side Villarreal back in 2023 and has since scored 30 goals in 81 games for the London side across all competitions.

He appears to have played his final match for the Blues, though, with the report suggesting that those in charge of Chelsea aren’t planning to reintroduce the player to the first team squad at Stamford Bridge.
