New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso will be busy preparing his side for their first friendly of the summer, against Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia on Tuesday.

The Blues will tour both Australia and Asia in the coming weeks, facing the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and AC Milan.

They then begin their Premier League campaign against west London rivals Fulham on the opening weekend of the new season, which will mark Alonso’s first competitive game in charge of the club.

In the meantime, though, it has emerged that the London giants are set to offload a number of defenders in the coming weeks.

As per Football Insider, the Blues are set to accept offers for five current central defenders once they have completed the signing of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace.

According to the report, Chelsea are set to finalise a move for Palace star Lacroix in the coming days and will then look to offload some of their current crop.

It is claimed that Frenchmen Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana and Mamadou Sarr will all be sold if suitable offers are tabled, while academy graduate Trevoh Chalobah could also be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

The England international has been the subject of interest from Serie A high-flyers Como, and the report suggests that he could be on his way to Italy

Englishman Tosin Adarabioyo is another played that could be sold, the report suggests, having started just eight of the Blues’ 38 Premier League matches last term.

The report suggests that, if all goes to plan, Chelsea will start the new season with a central defensive roster of Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill, Josh Acheampong and Lacroix.

That comes as something of a surprise, considering that Disasi spent last season in exile and hasnt’ made a single appearance for the club since January 2025.
