In a recent press conference, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel said he currently had 43 players to look after at training, amounting to two 18-man squads with seven others left over.

But we all know this is the norm for the current Champions League holders who loaned out a staggering 37 players last season.

However, they have also seen a huge exodus of some of their most talented youth prospects this season.

Fikayo Tomori made his loan move to AC Milan permanent, while fellow centre-back Marc Guehi made a move to Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace side.

Lewis Bate was next to depart, with Leeds signing the talented central midfielder, while Tino Livramento and Dynel Simeu were both signed by Southampton.

And the Saints could be set to return to Stamford Bridge, as Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are reportedly interested in signing young striker Armando Broja, according to Football.London.

The young striker was sent on loan to Vitesse Arnhem last season.

The Albania international has enjoyed a stellar pre-season with the Blues, scoring in friendlies against Bournemouth and Peterborough.

However, his presence with the first-team squad was mainly down to the fact senior players Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and others were yet to come back from their holidays – Broja was soon relegated back to the youth teams.

Romelu Lukaku’s expected return to the Blues means Broja’s chances have become a hundred times harder, and a move for first team football could now be beneficial for the 19-year-old centre forward.

Saints are understood to be keen on a season long loan for the young striker after losing star forward Danny Ings to Aston Villa last week.
