Chelsea were victorious on their return to Premier League action as they beat Bournemouth 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Graham Potter’s side were winless in their last five league games prior to the World Cup, but goals from Kai Havertz and Mason Mount ensured The Blues returned to winning ways.

Potter was without a number of key first team players, including N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell, and his injury concerns grew when Reece James limped off in the second half, with the Englishman having already missed a number of weeks through injury this term.

Now, The Blues could be set to lose another of their key players, as Jorginho is reportedly being lined up for a move to another Premier League club.

According to The Mail, Newcastle United are plotting a move for the Italian midfielder when his contract expires next summer.

The 31-year-old has spent four years in London since joining the club from Napoli, but his time at Stamford Bridge looks to be coming to an end as he enters the final six months of his current deal.

It is claimed that Chelsea are hoping to lower the average age of their squad and are eyeing a move for Enzo Fernandez, who has also been linked with a number of other clubs including Liverpool.

Chelsea’s main issue will be that Jorginho’s teammate N’Golo Kante is also set to be out of contract next summer, and Potter will be reluctant to let the pair leave together without replacements lined up.

The Magpies could reportedly look to move for Jorginho during the upcoming January transfer window, which represents Chelsea’s last chance to sell the player for a fee rather than losing him for free next summer.

Since taking charge of the club, new owner Todd Boehly has focussed on signing young players, with the likes of Omari Hutchinson, Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina having all joined the club.

Newcastle, meanwhile, have been in sensational form this season and currently sit second in the Premier League table.

Eddie Howe was boosted by a number of arrivals over the summer, including Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak.
