Chelsea star Timo Werner could join Newcastle United on loan in a bid to secure more regular football, according to reports.

As per The Mirror, the German striker is the subject of talks between the two clubs, with the Magpies keen to sign the striker.

Werner, 26, arrived in London in 2020 but has struggled in front of goal during his time in the capital.

The former RB Leipzig man has scored 23 goals in 89 matches for the Blues, and has also provided 21 assists.

He doesn’t have a guaranteed starting spot in Thomas Tuchel’s side, though, despite Romelu Lukaku’s departure, as Kai Havertz is set to be his first choice striker this term.

Werner can also play out wide, but is likely to be behind the likes of Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic in the pecking order.

The report claims that, if they do agree to let the player leave, Chelsea will aim to include a clause in the loan deal that will make the transfer permanent at the end of the upcoming season.
