Chelsea’s hopes of winning the FA Cup were ended on Saturday as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City at Wembley.

The Blues dominated the holders for much of the match, but Bernardo Silva’s late strike was enough to earn Pep Guardiola’s side a place in next month’s final.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is still yet to win a trophy in English football, and the Argentine will be under pressure to ensure his side qualify for European football next term by finishing the Premier League campaign strongly.

In the meantime, one of the Blues’ most important players has reportedly made a decision on his future.

As per 90min, veteran defender Thiago Silva has privately made a decision on his future, and will reveal the outcome in the coming days.

Silva is expected to leave Chelsea this summer

The 39-year-old remains an integral part of Pochettino’s squad, despite his age, but his current contract is set to expire this summer and he looks set to depart Stamford Bridge.

Silva joined Chelsea in 2020 after leaving French giants Paris Saint-Germain, and has since made a total of 149 appearances for the London side across all competitions.

He played an integral role as the Blues won the Champions League in 2021, under former PSG boss Thomas Tuchel.

Having started each of Chelsea’s first 15 Premier League games this term, the Brazilian has since fallen out of favour slightly, missing five of their last seven games in the competition.

Silva’s initial contract with Chelsea was due to expire in 2022, but his deal has twice been extended by a further 12 months.

The centre-back is vying with the likes of Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Levi Colwill and Trevoh Chalobah for a starting spot in Pochettino’s side.
