Chelsea forward Joao Felix has joined Italian side AC Milan on loan for the remainder of the current campaign.

The Blues announced on Tuesday that the Portuguese had joined the Serie A giants on loan, just six months after joining the West London outfit from Atletico Madrid.

Felix had struggled for game time since returning for a second spell with Chelsea, starting just three of their 24 Premier League matches so far this term under Enzo Maresca.

The Portugal international is set to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the current campaign, but it appears that he may well never play for the Blues again.

According to TBR Football, AC Milan fully intend to make the attacker’s move to Italy permanent once his loan expires at the end of the season.

Felix, 25, cost Atletico more than £112 million when he moved to Spain from Portuguese side Benfica in 2019.

Felix may not play for Chelsea again if AC Milan decide to sign him permanently

His career has somewhat dwindled since, though, with the Portuguese having spent time on loan at both Chelsea and Barcelona before finally departing Atletico permanently last summer.

In total he has played 40 times for Chelsea across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists.

This season he has scored seven times in 20 appearances, although he has primarily been used in the Europa Conference League and the domestic cup competitions, with his playing time in the Premier League limited.

Prior to his move to Milan, Felix was the subject of interest from Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

It is claimed that Milan weren’t able to sign the player permanently in January as they had to finance a move for striker Santi Gimenez, but Felix was informed that he may have a long-term future at the San Siro.
