Chelsea continued their summer rebuild last week with the acquisition of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, and it appears that they may be about to return the favour to their Italian counterparts.

According to The Daily Mail, the Blues could let goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga join the Serie A side as he looks to end his nightmare Stamford Bridge spell.

The Spaniard joined Chelsea for £71.6 million – a world record fee for a goalkeeper – back in 2018 but he has struggled during his time in London.

The ‘keeper made 54 appearances during his first season with Chelsea, but his form dipped the following year and he was eventually replaced as the club’s first choice by Edouard Mendy.

Kepa has been offered the chance to move to Naples

Last term, he was limited to just four Premier League starts, and he is apparently now intent on leaving the club.

Napoli could represent a good opportunity for the 27-year-old, with a loan deal the Italian side’s preference.

Chelsea will struggle to recoup much of the staggering fee that they paid for the Spanish international, but sending him out on loan could give him the chance to showcase his skill and increase his value.

The Blues are close to signing 18-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina from Chicago Fire, and that transfer could mean that the London outfit then let Kepa leave.
