Chelsea owner Todd Boehly continues to overhaul the club’s playing squad ahead of next summer, with several players having already left the club.

Both Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly have left to join Saudi Arabian Pro League clubs, following N’Golo Kante who joined Al-Ittihad following the expiry of his contract.

Forward Kai Havertz has joined rivals Arsenal in a deal worth around £65 million, while midfielder Mateo Kovacic has moved to treble winners Manchester City for a fee of £30 million.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – who graduated through the Blues’ youth setup before spending several seasons in the senior side – has also departed, joining Italian side AC Milan on a permanent deal.

Now, it appears that another of Chelsea’s most important players could soon leave the club.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, midfielder Mason Mount is set to undergo a medical on Monday ahead of a move to Manchester United.

The England international’s contract with Chelsea is set to expire next summer and his future has therefore been in doubt for several months now.

Talks between the player and his current employers have failed to produce an agreement over an extension, and United have held an interest in signing Mount for some time now.

Last week Romano reported that the two clubs had agreed a fee of £60 million for the player, and it is now claimed that he will undergo his medical on Monday before officially signing his new contract with the Red Devils.

Mount will sign a long-term contract that will run until 2028 with the option of a further 12 months, Romano claims.

The 24-year-old is a product of Chelsea’s fruitful youth academy and made his senior debut for the club back in 2019.

In total he has made 195 appearances across all competitions, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists.
