Chelsea have been given a boost ahead of their trip to Bournemouth with striker Nicolas Jackson signing a new contract.

The Blues confirmed on Friday that the Senegal international had signed an extension that will run until 2033.

Jackson’s original deal had been set to expire in the summer of 2031, but he has put pen-to-paper on a two-year extension.

The 23-year-old joined the Blues from Spanish side Villarreal last summer having scored nine goals in his last eight La Liga games of the 2022/23 campaign.

He endured a mixed debut season in London, but finished the campaign with a respectable total of 17 goals in 44 games across all competitions, as well as six assists.

Jackson has signed a two-year contract extension with Chelsea

Arguably his finest moment last season came at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, when the striker netted a hat-trick to help Chelsea to a 4-1 win over their fierce rivals.

The Senegalese forward has also started the new campaign in fine form, netting in each of the Blues’ last two Premier League games.

Despite Chelsea’s huge spending over the summer, the West London outfit didn’t sign a new striker and Jackson now looks set to be Enzo Maresca’s first choice number nine for the remainder of the campaign.

Jackson is in line to make his 49th appearance for Chelsea when they face Bournemouth on Saturday, exceeding the 48 appearances he made for former side Villarreal.
