Sean Dyche is back in the Premier League, taking charge of Everton just months after he was sacked by Burnley.

The ex-Clarets boss was announced as Frank Lampard’s successor at Goodison Park on Monday afternoon, eight months after leaving Turf Moor.

Dyche will have less than 48 hours to add to his squad before the transfer window closes on Tuesday evening, but it appears that The Toffees are looking to land at least one new signing.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton have tabled an offer of £40 million for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

Everton have endured a tough season so far and currently find themselves in 19th place in the Premier League table, with matters made worse by the departure of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle United last week.

Now, though, they are hoping to land England international Gallagher, who has struggled to maintain a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher, 22, enjoyed hugely successful back-to-back loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace over the past two seasons, before returning to Chelsea before the start of the current campaign.

Gallagher is wanted by Everton

Last season, Gallagher scored eight goals and provided five assists for The Eagles, playing a crucial role for Patrick Vieira’s side.

He has made a total of 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season, although he has only started nine of The Blues’ 20 Premier League games.

Romano claims that Everton’s offer for the player is comprised of an initial £40 million, with a further £5 million in potential add-ons.

Chelsea are said to be considering the offer for Gallagher, who has also attracted interest from other Premier League clubs.

The Blues’ decision may be impacted by their own pursuit of Benfica star Enzo Fernandez, who has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea throughout the January window.

They may be reluctant to let Gallagher leave, though, as both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are set to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
