Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic is reportedly a target for Newcastle United with the Magpies hopeful they can secure a deal.

As reported by The Athletic, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel ‘doesn’t trust’ the American, and could therefore allow him to depart for Newcastle.

The pair worked together at Borussia Dortmund but it appears that he is no longer entirely happy with the US international’s performances.

Chelsea have already allowed Timo Werner to leave – with the German returning to former club RB Leipzig – but they could also allow Pulisic to depart as he has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter at Stamford Bridge.

Pulisic has been linked with a move to Newcastle United

The 23-year-old has scored 25 goals and provided 18 assists in 115 games for the Premier League side since joining from Dortmund in 2019.

Last season, he started just 13 Premier League matches and made a total of 38 appearances across all competitions.

The arrival of Raheem Sterling is likely to further decrease the American’s playing time though, with the England international likely to be Tuchel’s first choice on the left of his front three.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has reportedly identified the forward as a target as he looks to add a wide player to his squad.
