Chelsea return to action on Sunday when they travel to face Premier League leaders Liverpool at Anfield.

Enzo Maresca has enjoyed a relatively impressive start to his tenure as the Blues’ head coach, with his side winning four and lose just one of their opening seven league games.

The West London side therefore sit fourth in the top flight table, but the trip to Merseyside will undoubtedly provide one of the toughest tests of their campaign so far.

Maresca has made very few changes to his line-ups for league games this year, instead opting to make wholesale changes for games in the UEFA Conference League and Carabao Cup.

On Sunday he will be forced to make at least two changes, with Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella both suspended.

Now, it has emerged that one of his squad players is unhappy at Stamford Bridge and could look to leave next year.

As per Football Insider, forward Christopher Nkunku is unhappy with his current playing time and could push for a move away from Stamford Bridge next year if his situation doesn’t improve.

Nkunku has scored seven times in 11 games so far this season

The Frenchman joined the Blues from German side RB Leipzig last summer, but endured an injury-plagued debut season in England.

Since Maresca took charge, the France international has failed to establish himself in the starting 11 in the Premier League.

He hasn’t started a league match since the opening weekend of the campaign, although he has scored three goals in each of the Conference League and Carabao Cup.

It is claimed that Nkunku – who finds himself behind Nicolas Jackson in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge – could take matters into his own hands and push for a move away from the club next year if his situation doesn’t improve.

The 26-year-old, who can play as a forward or an attacking midfielder, is contracted to the Blues until the end of the 2028/29 season.
