Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino will be working hard behind the scenes ahead of what promises to be a busy summer at the club.

The Blues have signed 16 new players since owner Todd Boehly took charge last year and will likely therefore have to offload a number of their current squad.

Several players including Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Hakim Ziyech have all been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, but it now appears that another key player could be on his way out of the club.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are interested in forward Kai Havertz.

Romano claims that the Spanish giants have ‘concrete’ interest in the Germany international, amid speculation that Karim Benzema could leave Madrid this summer.

Havertz, 23, joined Chelsea from German side Bayer Leverkusen back in the summer of 2020 but has since enjoyed mixed fortunes in west London.

Havertz is said to be a target for Real Madrid

The German netted the winning goal during Chelsea’s 2021 Champions League triumph over Manchester City, but has only scored 32 goals in 139 appearances for the club across all competitions.

This term Havertz netted nine times in 47 appearances, and Chelsea are said to be open to the idea of letting the forward leave this summer.

Romano claims, though, that Chelsea would demand a certain fee for the player and would only be willing to let him leave permanently, rather than on loan.

It is claimed that Havertz is one of several players being considered by Real as they search for a new forward, with manager Carlo Ancelotti said to be an admirer of the ex-Leverkusen man.

Chelsea are themselves set to be in the market for a new forward this summer as they look to address their problems in front of goal.

Only four teams scored fewer goals than the Blues in the Premier League this season, with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Raheem Sterling and Havertz himself all struggling in front of goal.
