Chelsea will be hoping to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup by beating Aston Villa in their fourth round replay on Wednesday night.

The Blues have endured a torrid season so far and currently sit 11th in the Premier League table, having lost 4-2 against Wolves at Stamford Bridge last time out.

The winners of the tie at Villa Park will face Leeds United in the next round, after the Whites beat Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday evening.

Since Chelsea’s defeat to Wolves, there has been plenty of speculation about the future of Enzo Fernandez.

Now, the midfielder’s agent has clarified his stance.

“The player has no intention to leave,” Uriel Perez told Eduardo Burgos.

“The club’s leaders were very clear with this project.

“(They said) it’s a plan that was going to cost at first because new and young players were going to arrive.

Fernandez was rumoured to be unhappy at Chelsea

“But when the team matches all the pieces together, Chelsea was going to get ahead.

“Enzo’s desire is to be on the team and succeed. We haven’t met or tried to talk with any club. We know what the player’s desire is. Obviously he’d like the club to be in another position, but that will be achieved with hard work.”

Fernandez, 23, joined the Blues from Portuguese side Benfica in January last year, just weeks after winning the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar.

He initially impressed in London, but has struggled more recently amidst Chelsea’s dismal run of form.

In total, the Argentine has played 50 times across all competitions – including 28 Premier League games – and he has scored five goals and provided three assists in that time.

It had been reported in the days since Chelsea’s defeat to Wolves that Fernandez was unhappy at Stamford Bridge and had instructed his representatives to begin searching for a new club.

Perez has since reiterated that the central midfielder is keen to stay put in West London, though, and the player is contracted to his current club until 2031.
