Chelsea return to action on Saturday when they travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth.

Enzo Maresca has endured a mixed start to life as head coach of the Blues, with his side having lost one, drawn one and won one of their first three games of the new Premier League season.

The Italian did see his side progress into the group phase of the UEFA Conference League, despite a second leg defeat against Swiss side Servette.

He will be keen to see his side impress against the Cherries, though, as Chelsea look to once again challenge for Champions League qualification.

In the meantime, one of Chelsea’s forgotten men appears to be closing in on a move away from the club.

As per Football Insider, striker David Datro Fofana is edging closer to a move to Greek side AEK Athens.

The Ivorian hasn’t featured in any of the Blues’ games this season, with his last competitive appearance coming for Burnley during a short loan spell at Turf Moor during the second half of last term.

Fofana spent the second half of last season on loan at Burnley

The report claims, though, that the 21-year-old is expected to complete a move to the Greek capital in the coming days.

It is claimed that a fee hasn’t yet been agreed between the two clubs and, although the initial fee will be lower than the £8.4 million that the Blues paid for the player, the London side are hoping to make a profit if certain clauses and add-ons are triggered.

Fofana joined Chelsea from Norwegian side Molde in January 2023 but has only ever played four times for the club, failing to score in any of his appearances.

He spent the first half of last term on loan at German side Union Berlin but returned to England in January this year and was then sent to Turf Moor on loan.

He scored four times in 15 games for the Clarets and was largely impressive, however he wasn’t able to prevent their relegation at the end of the season.
