Ipswich Town travel to face reigning champions Manchester City on Saturday, in their first Premier League away game for more than two decades.

Kieran McKenna’s side ended a 22-year stint outside of the top flight when they welcomed Liverpool to Portman Road last weekend, and the Tractor Boys impressed during the first half.

The Reds ultimately proved too good for Ipswich, though, with Arne Slot’s side running out 2-0 winners.

The East Anglia outfit will now face another tricky test when they travel to The Etihad.

In the meantime, it appears that Ipswich may have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of a Premier League striker.

According to The Guardian, the Tractor Boys’ proposed loan move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja is in danger of collapsing.

Broja’s proposed move to Ipswich Town has stalled

The Albania international had been on the verge of a season-long loan move to Portman Road, but the report claims that the move is being held up by paperwork issues, with Ipswich now looking at alternative targets.

It is claimed that the issue is nothing to do with the Blues, but it does mean that Broja, 22, may now stay put at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the current transfer window despite not featuring in manager Enzo Maresca’s plans.

Premier League rivals Everton are also said to have shown interest in the striker, who is a product of Chelsea’s youth academy.

The Slough-born player has scored just three goals in 38 games for the Blues across all competitions, but he has enjoyed successful loan spells with both Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem and south coast side Southampton.

In January, the Albanian was sent on loan to West London rivals Fulham for the second half of the season, but his time at Craven Cottage didn’t go to plan.

Broja is contracted to Chelsea until the end of the 2027/28 season.
