Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Roma star Kostas Manolas.
The defending Premier League champions, who have only managed to earn eight points from their opening eight league games, are eyeing potential alternatives to England and Everton defender John Stones during the January transfer window.
Manolas, 24, who only arrived at the Stadio Olimpico last August from Greek outfit Olympiacos, has scored once in nine appearances in all competitions for the Serie A side this season.
Having already earned 21 international caps for Greece, Manolas has been previously linked with a Premier League move with rivals Arsenal.
But with club captain John Terry rumoured to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge at the end of the campaign, Blues boss Jose Mourinho sees Manolas as the perfect replacement and the ideal alternative to Stones during the New Year period.
Chelsea already brought in fellow defenders Baba Rahman, Papy Djilobodji and Michael Hector during the closing stages of this summer’s transfer window.
