Chelsea will hope to return to winning ways when they once again travel to the south coast to face Brighton and Hove Albion on Friday night.

Enzo Maresca’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup by the Seagulls on Saturday, and they now make the trip back down to The Amex in the Premier League.

The Blues currently sit fourth in the top flight standings but have been in poor form since Christmas and are in danger of missing out on qualification for the Champions League next term.

Off the pitch, though, it has emerged that one of Chelsea’s transfer targets has a release clause in his current contract.

As per TBR Football, Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has a £55 million release clause in his current deal.

The Spanish defender has been something of a revelation for the Cherries so far this term, making 21 appearances across all competitions.

Liverpool are also said to be interested in the Spanish defender

The centre-back’s impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed, though, with the report claiming that Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs that are keeping tabs on the 19-year-old.

Huijsen joined Bournemouth from Italian giants Juventus last summer and has since forced his way into the starting line-up at The Vitality.

The defender – who cost the Cherries less than £13 million last summer – is under contract until the end of the 2029/30 campaign but the report claims that his current deal does include a release clause.

It is claimed that the clause becomes active when the transfer window reopens this summer, and that could prompt a battle to sign the Spain Under-21 international.

Chelsea have suffered with injuries in defence this term, with Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana among those to have had spells on the sidelines, and it appears that those in charge of the Blues’ recruitment could therefore be looking to add reinforcements to Maresca’s squad this summer.
