Chelsea look set to be rivalled by Bayern Munich in the race to sign Lyon captain Nabil Fekir, according to L’Équipe.

The 25-year-old was thought to be on the brink of completing a move to Liverpool in the summer only for the Reds to withdraw due to fears over a knee problem.

But it seems as if the French World Cup winner could still make the switch to the Premier League with Maurizio Sarri’s Blues reportedly keen on the player.

Sitting second in the table and just two points off the top, the Italian boss has started life well at Stamford Bridge but is still keen to add more creativity and goals to his squad.

Fekir would definitely provide that and, with that in mind, the west London side have been keeping a close eye on the attacking midfielder this term.

Fekir has scored three times this term.

The Stamford Bridge side have been impressed with what they’ve seen from the Ligue 1 star as he’s continued to show true glimpses of quality with three goals in 10 matches, including the winner in a 2-1 Champions League victory at Manchester City.

Chelsea are not the only club to be readying a move for the playmaker however, with German giants Bayern Munich also very keen.

And with the skipper out of contract in the summer of 2020, the French side may have to cash in on their man or risk losing him on a free in just over a year-and-a-half.
