Chelsea are reportedly set to make an improved offer for England international midfielder Danny Drinkwater, according to the Telegraph.

The Premier League champions, who surprisingly lost 3-2 at home to Burnley in their 2017-18 league opener on Saturday, saw an initial £15m bid rejected by Leicester City earlier this summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old, who has three international caps for The Three Lions, scored one goal and provided three assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for The Foxes last season as they finished 12th in the standings.

Leicester’s Drinkwater.

Drinkwater, who played a key role in Leicester’s fairy tale 2015-16 Premier League triumph, is thought to be keen on becoming Blues boss Antonio Conte’s fifth summer signing, following the arrivals of goalkeeper Willy Caballero (Manchester City), Antonio Rudiger (Roma), Tiemoue Bakayoko (Monaco) and Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid) at Stamford Bridge this transfer window.

Chelsea are poised to return with a second offer of £25m for the central midfielder, who has netted 15 times in 218 games overall for Leicester, following his move from Manchester United back in January 2012.
