Chelsea are reportedly interested in turning to Belgium international striker Christian Benteke this summer, according to The Times (via HITC Sport).

The Premier League side, who eventually finished tenth in the English top-flight standings this term after a poor defence of their league title, have been linked with a surprise move for the Liverpool forward ahead of incoming boss Antonio Conte’s arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old, who has 27 international caps for his country and has been included in Belgium’s squad for EURO 2016 later this month, scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 42 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds this season.

Benteke, who only arrived at Anfield last summer after sealing a £32m move from Aston Villa, could be of interest to Chelsea should the Blues fail to lure their number one target, international teammate Romelu Lukaku, back to Stamford Bridge from Everton.

The report suggests that Liverpool would want to recoup as close to the £32m they paid for the Belgian ace less than a year ago.
