Chelsea are running out of time in their race to sign a world class striker before the window slams shut next month.

The Blues have been linked with a host of goalscorer from all over Europe and beyond, but are yet to lure one to Stamford Bridge.

Boss Thomas Tuchel is reportedly chasing Erling Braut Haaland from former club Borussia Dortmund, however the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Harry Kane and Lautaro Martinez have also all been touted as Chelsea’s new number nine.

One man who emerged as a surprise target for the Blues was Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, however it appears that any prospect of that deal happening has already been rebuffed.

Bayern president Herbert Haimer has insisted that the Polish goalscorer will see out the remainder of his current deal with the German giants, and also suggested he may even stay beyond that.

Lewandowski broke the record for the most goals in a single Bundesliga campaign last term.

“Firstly, in my opinion, Lewandowski is the best striker in the world. We are so happy that we have him in our team,” he told Goal.

“He still has two more years on his contract. He will definitely play those with Bayern Munich.

“I said it already a few weeks ago – I could imagine him staying with us for even longer. He will honour his contract.

“He will definitely play the next two seasons here in Bayern Munich.”

The Bayern talisman scored an incredible 48 goals in 40 games across all competitions for the German champions last term.

The 32-year-old’s form has seen him talked about as a potential Ballon d’Or winner this year.
