Chelsea are reportedly closing in on the signing of Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku, according to Sky Italia.
The Premier League side, who currently sit seven points clear of second placed Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the standings following their 2-1 win over Manchester City on Wednesday night, have been heavily linked with re-signing the Everton hitman this summer.
The 23-year-old, who has 58 international caps for his country, has scored 22 goals and provided seven assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for The Toffees so far this season.
Lukaku, who is said to have a whopping £70m price tag, joined The Blues back in August 2011 from Anderlecht, before being sold for £28m just three years later to Premier League rivals Everton.
The report shows journalist Massimo Marianella telling Sky Italia that Chelsea’s bid to bring back the Belgian to Stamford Bridge has almost been completed.
“I think many big players will join Chelsea in the summer as Conte wants the Blues to become credible contenders for the Champions League win,” he said.
“I can say Lukaku’s Chelsea move is almost [a] done deal.”
