Chelsea have reportedly joined Sevilla in the race to sign Italy defender Andrea Conti, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Premier League side, who have moved eight points clear at the top of the table following Sunday’s 2-0 win over Hull City, have been surprisingly linked with the Atalanta defender, despite not having signed any players during the January transfer window, so far.
The 22-year-old, who is an Italy Under-21 international, has scored two goals and provided three assists in 20 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.
Conti, who is also attracting interest from La Liga side Sevilla before next Tuesday’s Deadline Day, could cost around £12m.
The highly-rated right-back, who has largely been used as a right sided midfielder this term, scored during Atalanta’s 4-1 victory at Chievo Verona on January 8.
Antonio Conte’s Blues welcome Championship club Brentford to Stamford Bridge on Saturday in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
