Chelsea striker Diego Costa is on the verge of sealing a £75 million move to Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian, and will in turn become the highest paid player in the world, according to The Daily Record.

The 29-year-old has been a key part of the Blues’ ascent to the top of the Premier League this season with 19 goals in 32 league games, including winning goals against Middlesbrough, West Brom, and Crystal Palace during the autumn.

It was when the Spain international was on top form when Antonio Conte’s men seized the initiative in the title race, and although he has been quiet of late, they owe a lot to the striker if they do indeed go on and win the league this term.

Yet it looks like Costa will be on his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer, with Chinese outfit Tianjin Quanjian reportedly set to make him the highest paid player in world football as part of a £75 million deal.

The 29-year-old is reportedly set to earn an astronomical £650,000 a week after tax should he make the move to the Chinese Super League, this all after Costa was clearly unsettled by talk of a move for him during the January transfer window, which resulted in him being dropped from the side that beat Leicester 3-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Although nothing has been agreed, reports suggest that the striker is on his way to China this summer, which will leave Conte with a huge gap to fill in the striking department.

Yet, with £75 million set to come his way, the Italian will certainly be able to strengthen his options ahead of their European adventure and likely title defence next term.
