Arsenal return to Premier League action on Wednesday when they make the short trip to face Brentford.

The Gunners currently sit third in the top flight standings – nine points behind leaders Liverpool – but they could move up in to second with a win over the Bees.

Thomas Frank’s side boast a hugely impressive record at home this season, though, and are sure to provide a stern test for Arsenal.

In the meantime, with the January transfer window fast approaching, it has emerged that an Arsenal player’s former club are trying to re-sign him.

As per Football Insider, Scottish champions Celtic are working to try to agree a pre-contract agreement with left-back Kieran Tierney next month.

Tierney joined Arsenal from the Glasgow side in 2019 and has since spent time on loan with Spanish outfit Real Sociedad.

While he was initially a regular starter for the Gunners, the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko limited his playing time and he has fallen out of favour at The Emirates over the past couple of years.

Tierney could make a sensational return to Scottish side Celtic

The 27-year-old’s only appearance so far this term came in a 3-2 win against London rivals Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup earlier this month.

It is claimed that Celtic ‘would love’ to lure the Scotland international back to his homeland next summer.

With Tierney in the final year of his current contract at The Emirates, he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of England next month.

He would then be able to join that club next summer, while at present he is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

In total, the Scot has played 125 times for Arsenal across all competitions over the course of his five years in North London.
