There have been conflicting reports about the whereabouts of Chelsea target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with some suggestions that the player may be on his way to London.

As reported by Football London, Spanish journalist Gerard Romero has claimed that the Gabon international will soon finalise a move to The Blues.

The Spaniard also states that, while Aubameyang was at the airport today, he was flying to Paris to visit family, rather than flying to London to join Chelsea.

A move is close, though, he suggests, with Barcelona willing to accept the £18 million offer that Chelsea have tabled, Ben Jacobs claims.

Chelsea have reportedly been in talks with both Barca and Aubameyang over a potential move for several weeks now, with Thomas Tuchel placing the ex-Arsenal striker top of his list of targets as he looks to add a proven goalscorer to his side.

Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports suggest

Tuchel and Aubameyang worked together at Borussia Dortmund, and the German has apparently insisted on the move for the 33-year-old.

The Blues’ manager has witnessed his frontline struggle in front of goal so far this season, with two defenders and a midfielder scoring The Blues’ only goals of the season so far.

Aubameyang played in a friendly between Barcelona and Manchester City on Wednesday evening, scoring as the sides drew 3-3.

Since joining Barcelona in January, the forward has netted 13 goals in 24 games, although the arrival of Robert Lewandowski appears to have forced Aubameyang out of the Nou Camp.

Talks between Chelsea, Barcelona and the player’s representatives are believed to be ongoing, however it appears that a deal is now very close.
