Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi has told the Serie A club that he wants to leave for Chelsea in the January window, according to reports from The Express.

The Italy international, who made his national team debut under Blues boss Antonio Conte in March of this year, has been a target for his former manager since he took the reigns at Stamford Bridge in the summer, and now seems ready to make the step up to the Premier League.

The former Juventus boss will be on the lookout for renforcements in the New Year as he looks to maintain his side’s dominance in the Premier League, with the 2014/15 champions currently back on top of the table, having beaten Middlesbrough on Sunday, for the first time since they won the title under Jose Mourinho.

22-year-old Bernardeschi has reportedly informed the powers that be at Fiorentina that he wishes to leave the club in January should Chelsea make their move.

The right winger has made 12 appearances in Italy’s top division this season, scoring on six occasions and picking up two assists along the way.
