Jurgen Klopp is embarking on his first full season in charge at Anfield, and his side have started the season in excellent fashion.
His exciting team have picked up five wins from their opening seven matches, including impressive victories at Arsenal and Chelsea, and are currently enjoying a five-match winning streak in all competitions.
Klopp brought in six new signings over the summer, including Sadio Mane from Southampton and Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle United, but that hasn’t stopped the Merseyside club being linked with moves for other top-class players in January.
There is a lot of speculation surrounding who Liverpool may sign, but here are THREE players that Klopp could definitely land when the window reopens in the New Year…
Leonardo Pavoletti
Both the Reds and their Premier League rivals Arsenal have sent scouts to watch 27-year-old forward Leonardo Pavoletti this season, and they would probably have been impressed with what they saw.
The Genoa forward has netted twice in Serie A this season – a brace against bottom side Crotone in August – and was rewarded with his decent form with a call-up to the Italy squad for their World Cup qualifiers last month.
With 23 goals in 40 appearances for the Italian side, his firepower is sure to benefit Klopp’s Liverpool if they can get him through the door in January.
Geoffrey Kondogbia
Klopp has been keeping a very close eye on Inter Milan’s Geoffrey Kondogbia, increasing the possibility of a deal being done in January.
The 23-year-old signed for the Italian giants in 2015 for €31 million, and appeared 30 times for then-manager Roberto Mancini’s side last season.
However, the defensive midfielder has struggled to play regular football this season under new coach Frank de Boer.
His agent has come out and said that Kondogbia is happy at Inter despite his lack of first team action, but also admitted that there was a lot of interest in the French international should he want out of the San Siro.
Could Liverpool make a move in January?
Mahmoud Dahoud
Mahmoud Dahoud is one of the best young players in the Bundesliga, and could make the move to Anfield in January.
It has been reported that the 20-year-old has a €10 million release clause in his contract from next summer, perhaps forcing German side Borussia Monclengladbach to move him on in January so they can get the best deal for him.
There has been particularly strong interest from the Reds in recent months, who appear to be in pole position to land the German Under-21 international when the window reopens.
