Despite having been ruled out of Sunday’s EFL Cup final by manager Jose Mourinho, it looks as if Henrikh Mkhitaryan could still feature when they face Southampton.

The Armenia international, who joined the Red Devils from Borussia Dortmund over the summer, hobbled off in their Europa League tie with St. Etienne on Wednesday, minutes after scoring the game’s only goal.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s final Mourinho ruled out his playmaker with a hamstring injury, however, according to the Daily Express, there is still a chance he could play.

The United players and staff were all snapped outside Stockport station as they made their way down to the capital ahead of the clash with Claude Puel’s side, and Mkhitaryan was one of the 21 making the journey.

One noticeable absentee, however, was former Chelsea man Juan Mata, who has been another key man for Mourinho this term.

The absence of Mata will be a boost to Saints fans, but one which will have the joy taken out of it should they see Mkhitaryan’s name on the teamsheet at Wembley.
