To say it’s been a roller coaster of a season for Sam Allardyce would be a massive understatement as the Crystal Palace manager has gone from England boss to struggling in a relegation dogfight but even as the pressure mounts he can at least count on the support of his players as James Tomkins backs him via the club’s website.

Palace’s 1-0 loss at Stoke this weekend piled more misery and pressure on Allardyce, who has failed to truly rally his beleaguered squad since taking over at Selhurst Park, managing just one win during his stint as manager.

Despite the poor run of form, Palace are just two points from safety and with a reputation built on keeping un-fancied sides in the Premier League, Allardyce is still viewed by many as the perfect man to turn things around at Selhurst Park, not least of all by Tomkins.

Speaking to the club’s website Tomkins noted:

‘We’ll keep going and there is no better man in charge to get us out of this situation.

‘We all believe in him and all the lads believe in each other; we’ve got a good dressing room with a lot of experience in there.

‘That will be important with the games coming up and in this situation – we’ll stay positive and hopefully get a big win in the next game.’

With a home clash against fellow strugglers Middlesbrough next up in the Premier League in just over a fortnight, Allardyce will know a win then could prove vital in giving the whole club, not just Tomkins, belief that they can beat the drop this season.
