Crystal Palace eye cut-price move for Stuttgart defender

Crystal Palace are reportedly set to hold talks with Stuttgart over a £750,000 move for defender Georg Niedermeier.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew is keen to boost his defensive options during the January transfer window, and is ready to strike a cut-price deal for the 29-year-old, who is out of contract next summer.

The South London outfit, who are currently sixth in the Premier League standings, have been heavily reliant on Scott Dann and Damien Delaney in the heart of the defence this term, and Pardew wants more competition for places.

Niedermeier has only made three appearances for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga this season, and looks set to leave next month.
